Are you looking to host a party or a family gathering in your home? Not sure where to start? If you’re worried about pulling it off and making the event a success, we’ve put together this list of tips and tricks to ensure your party is a hit!

1. Don’t Complicate

Keep things simple and relaxed. If your party is too rigid with too many formal activities, your guests may feel like they aren’t able to relax and socialize. If you want to have 1 or 2 fun games or activities for guests to do, then by all means, do so - but allow for your guests to also just be 'themselves'.

2. Music

This one is a must. Having some music, even if just background music - makes or breaks an atmosphere. There are plenty of small bluetooth speakers that pump in volume. You don’t need the best loudest Bluetooth speaker available, just something to warm up the room and create that mood that gets people tapping their foot. Also, create a playlist if you can!

3. Food

Platters. I repeat - platters. These are so easy to whip up (or order) and don’t require formally serving food. Make sure you’ve catered for any guests who have special dietary requirements, but further to that just over a variety of small snack-type foods. Food is such a social thing, keeping it light and self-serving minimizes the effort on your side.

4. Decor

You really don’t need to go Pinterest crazy on this one to have an effective decor for your party. Use what you have and then add a few small details. Don’t get lost in the craziness of Pinterest Parties! A string of fairy lights will make a big difference and won’t break the bank. You could also use the fairy lights again for your next event.

5. Cleaning

This is something you really shouldn’t spend too much time on. Give the floors a vacuum and make sure your bathroom is clean. But don’t go spending the whole day mopping all floors in your house. I can guarantee you nobody will notice if you have (or have not) mopped and you will definitely have to do it after the party anyways.
If you want to make things really easy for yourself, use disposable plates. If you’d prefer to rather use your own plates then try taking a bundle of dirty dishes to the kitchen every time you walk that way. Load them straight in the dishwasher, if you have one, and turn it on the moment it’s full.

6. Cater for Kids

If your party is aimed at adults, but children will be present, then set out an area for them to be entertained too. Put on a movie, and put out a snack platter for them too. Kids mostly entertain themselves but have an activity reserved for when the “I’m bored!” whines start kicking in.

7. Enjoy Your Party

This is probably the biggest impact on whether your party is successful or not. Whatever you don’t get to in time - let go of. Don’t spend the entire party apologizing to your guests for the messy house, lack of decor and the fact that there were supposed to be four desserts but you only managed to do three.
Likewise, if guests never get to spend time socializing with you and all they see the entire party is, you running up and down cleaning and stressing about things - that is going to be take-home memory of you and the party. You’ll find things work out and guests will enjoy the party regardless of having one less pudding.

Finally!

Enjoy your party. You can be rest assured that all your elements in your home is all set.

Happy partying!
