Memory games are a great way for kids to increase their memory power and other related abilities. The following article will provide you with such games which you can use as a fun way of increasing memory.
The world changes and welcomes in technology to do its bidding, but that still does not exempt anyone from keeping things in mind or make the concept of memorizing redundant. A click of a button cannot ever be a substitute for what a person's mind can do and definitely not when our mind has limitless power.
They say that a person's subconscious mind is capable of doing limitless things and that throughout one's life a person only uses a fraction of their mind's actual powers and capacities.
We shall not get into the hidden powers of the subconscious, try to enhance the mental powers of our conscious mind and focus more on the ways of improving memory. And since it helps to tap things when the mind is young, we will be focusing on a younger age group. Look through some memory games for kids that will help enhance brain power.

Memory Games for Children

There are several memory games for children that have been developed to enhance their memory and act as brain exercises. If one looks at the core of these games, they'll find that even though the games appear to be simple, they have at their base certain techniques by which not only memory, but analytical and thinking power is also enhanced.

Add to the Story

Have a group of kids sit in a circle. Let one of them pick up a chit that has the starting of any story like 'Once upon a time there was a king and a queen'  or anything that is a little more difficult. The first kid starts the story and then adds something to it. The next kid has to say what the first and the second kid said and then add his own sentence.
The fourth kid has to repeat the first 3 and add his own line and so it continues till it reaches a point, if someone forgets anything, they are disqualified. The circle then continues from where the story was left off. It can go on till no one can continue the story or one among the last two falters.

Card Games

There are several card games that can help make great memory games. Try the simplest of them all―turn the cards over and ask the kid to find the pairs. They are allowed to turn only two cards at a time and then turn them back.
The challenge is to remember the order of the cards and try to get the pairs as quickly as possible. It can be a similar pair of the number from the total of four. This is more fun when played by a single kid.
There are some specialized card games that are developed for the purpose of improving memory as well. One such game is 'Not at Home'. In this, a group of kids are dealt the same number of cards and the aim of the game is to try to get the entire deck in your hands. So start by arranging the group of four cards in the deck (hearts, club, spade and diamond).
A person starts and asks any random person in the circle whether they have a specific card, if that person does, the card is passed and they get another chance and if the person doesn't have the card, he says 'not at home' and the den is passed on to him.
As the game progresses, it becomes more and more confusing to understand which card belonged to which person. It requires a cool head and the ability to keep things in mind without muddling them up.

Memory Verse Game

Certain ways of improving memory and concentration have been used in the form of verse games. This is especially used in their curriculum because it makes for a great way to help them learn. In fact, it is a technique that has often been adopted to teach kids verses from the bible.
The way it works is that you take a popular verse or a summarized version of a lesson and divide it into parts. Then write those parts on different chits and hide them all around a room or conjoin as part of scavenger hunt clues. The kids have to find all the chits and then arrange the verses in order. This helps them keep things in mind.
There are certain other memory games that have been used for centuries, these include solving puzzles, memory games with different items arranged on a tray and the kids having to recall them back after they've seen them for a minute, Chinese whispers and more.
Including any of these memory games for kids in their curriculum brings in not only the entertainment factors, but also develops their memory power. And this is something your kids won't shirk from at any time.
